ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION FUNCTION
The Department of
Mechatronics Engineering of SNS College of Technology-Vazhiyampalayam,
inaugurated its association,”TRONEXUZ” on 28 July 2012. The chief guest was Dr.,
Kamesh Namuduri, Associate Professor, University of North
Texas, USA
and Guest of
Honor was Dr., Xiaohui Yuan., Associate
Professor, University of North
Texas, USA.
Mr.P.Hari
Sudan, Secretary of Mechatronics Engineering Association welcomed
the gathering.
Our
Principal Dr.V.P.Arunachalam, in his
presidential address asked the students to keep their technical senses sharper
and to keep themselves up to date to the trend set up of the industries and
also asks the student to update their practical knowledge in Robotics and
Automation.
Prof.P.Vivekanandan, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering introduced the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor to the gathering.
The chief guest Dr., Kamesh Namuduri, Associate Professor, University of North Texas, USA delivered the inaugural address. He delivered the speech about the topic on “Robots in Mars”. He discussed the details on modern mechanical application and also he motivated student to expand their knowledge on robotics and automation. He also explained the control and communication between two robots, in order to make swapping the location of robots. He asked the student to utilize the lab facilities from our college. He insisted our students to involve in developing innovative projects.

Associate Professor, University of
North Texas, USA delivered the informative
speech in our inauguration. He asked the student to maintain the relationship
between a student and the staff members. He stressed the point that industries
expect students with deep knowledge in their core subject; soft skills like
personalities, flexible communication and management. He added up saying that
the heads of various fields of mechanical engineering are the people with good
technical background. He expected the
students not only to complete his degree, but to step out as a good professional.
Prof.R.Sivabalakrishnan
introduced the office bearers of and also briefed about the proposed activities
of the Mechatronics Engineering Association for the academic year 2012-13.
Mr. P.Arjun, Joint Secretary of
Mechatronics Engineering Association delivered the vote of
thanks.
VALUE ADDED PROGRAMME
1.
COMMUNICATION SKILL DEVELOPMENT
The
Mechatronics engineering association conducted a value added course on “COMMUNICATION SKILL DEVELOPMENT” on 16th
August 2012. The Guest speaker was Mrs.Karpagam, Assistant Professor from
the Department of English who delivered the lecture on developing communication
skills and the need of communication for the students. Mr.P.Arjun, student of
Mechatronics department expressed the tip on developing communication and body
language. The group discussion had been conducted for the student based on the
selected titles.
2. ROLE OF
COMPUTER PROGRAMMING IN ENGINEERING APPLICATION
The
Mechatronics engineering association conducted a value added course on “ROLE
OF COMPUTER PROGRAMMING IN ENGINEERING APPLICATION” on 23rd August
2012. The Guest speaker was Prof.S.Sundararajan, Head
of the Department of MCA, who delivered the guest lecture on Role of computer
programming in Engineering and he proposed a various methods fuzzy logic
control system available in real time application.
Mr.S.Karthik,
student of Mechatronics department explained the basics of C and C++
programming language and its various applications. The student interaction had
been carried out from the respected titles for remaining session.
ONE
DAY INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO M.M. GEARS PVT LTD
The
The M.M Gears Pvt Ltd is a medium scale industry which is situated in
mudalipalyam, Coimbatore
which manufactures gears and gear boxes, worm gear boxes, helical gear boxes
and geared motors. There were 55 students accompanied with two staff member who
had been visited the company on 18th August 2012.
The
company consists of three sections. The first and second sections manufacture
the geared parts and the third section to manufacture the bevel gear assy.
The molded
outer body of the gear boxes is bought and the CNC machines are used to machine
the inner parts such as the inner holes, etc. This unit also consists of a
co-ordinate measuring machine to measure the body of the gear boxes. Before
sending it to the next section the body is put in a deburring machine to remove
the burrs.
The next section consist of lathe,
grinding machine, slotting machine and drilling machine to manufacture shafts
for the gear boxes and the outer body is machined and assembled. The third
section is to manufacture the bevel gear assy. This unit consists of CNC lathes
and other special machines to manufacture and pack and send to its customer
ashok Leyland.
SEMINAR on “CAD/CAM APPLICATIONS”
The Mechatronics
Engineering Association conducted seminar (Guest Lecture) on “CAD/CAM
APPLICATIONS” on 6th October 2012.
The
Guest speakers were Mr.K.N.Thirumalai Swamy and Mr.R.Surendharan, Managing
Partners of Creative I CAD Center, who delivered the guest lecture on CAD/CAM
Software Applications in automobile industries, prototype model developing, 3D
Model from free hand sketch etc. They explained the historic development of
CAD/CAM software. They also mentioned the various opportunities available for
CAD/CAM certificate holders.
