Future of Mechatronics Engineering

Whether it is India or wherever, future of technological innovation will definitely involve multi-disciplinary expertise. Therefore mechatronics will definitely have scope in India.

Very large and huge demand exists from large global enterprises and MNC in IT industry, Automation, Robotics, PLC programming, automotive, aerospace and consumer products industries and in smaller innovative ‘high tech’ companies supplying software parts and equipment.

Mechatronic engineers may also be employed by product developers, manufacturing, mining or forestry industries, aerospace and defense, government and industry research groups.

Mechatronics Engineer will have a diverse job available. The main tracks would be:

1- Autotronics: This field combines Automobile and Electronics. All of our vehicles these days encompasses intelligent systems that began to replace the conventional mechanical systems. An example of this is the Steer-by-System that enables you to steer your car without the steering shaft connecting the steering wheel to the wheels. In this track, you will need a strong programming skill, embedded systems background, and computer networks.

2- Robotics and Industrial Automation: As the name implies, this discipline is concerned with designing, troubleshooting, implementing, and testing robotic systems to accomplish manufacturing tasks in industrial firms. A concrete example of this is the production of vehicles, where the assembly, painting,...etc is done by robots.

3- Bio-Mechatronics: This track combines mechanics, electronics, and biological systems together. Diverse applications lie behind this field such as manufacturing of upper and lower limbs prothesis, interfacing the brain signals with smart systems to assist those who have mobility impairments and many other interesting applications.

4- Nano-Mechatronics: is mainly focusing on designing and fabricating complete sensors, actuators, and Mechatronic systems on tiny chips that are used in all kinds of gadgets that we use on a daily basis such as iPhones, cameras,...etc.

As Mechatronics Engineering is a diverse field, the opportunity to work in different fields are wide open.

If you are a good mechatronics engineer than future is your's because There are start-up opportunities in the topic like
1. home automation,
2. automation of industries, reduction in the product cost by replacing man by machines.
3. autonomous wheelchair for disabled people,
4. tree climbing mechanisms,
5. Self-driving vehicles.
6. AUTOMATION in agriculture, autonomous agricultural vehicles
7. Automation in the army, like. Automatic guns.
8. Robotics innovation like remote control hand, use etc.
Space exploration requires automation and robotics so there are opportunities for such engineers in NASA, ISRO etc.
